Travel destination Jamaica in the Caribbean
Jamaica is a Caribbean island known for its music, Jamaican lifestyle (especially the Rastafarian culture) and delicious native Jamaican cuisine. The island is famous for its miles of white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and tropical landscape. Some of the best-known beaches include Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Doctor’s Cave Beach in Montego Bay, and Frenchman’s Cove Beach in Port Antonio. Treasure Beach, a more remote beach in the south of the island, and Reggae Beach in Ocho Rios are also very popular and definitely worth a visit when in Jamaica. Aside from the beaches, there are plenty of other exciting things to do in Jamaica such as rafting on the Martha Brae River, hiking in the Blue Mountains National Park and of course visiting the local markets.
The three largest cities in Jamaica are Kingston, Montego Bay and Spanish Town. Kingston is the capital and by far the largest city on the island. Here you can visit the Bob Marley Museum, listen to local Jamaican music and enjoy delicious food. Montego Bay is a popular tourist spot with accommodation in almost all price ranges with many luxury hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. Sangster International Airport is also located here. Spanish Town is a historic city that was once the island’s former capital. There are many historic buildings to see here, including the Rodney Memorial and the well-known St Catherine Parish Church. Together, these cities, beaches and inland national parks offer a diverse and relaxing Caribbean vacation experience.
